Control units

VIACONTROL

Traffic light control unit

VIACONTROL is the advanced traffic light control unit designed for intelligent management of 2 traffic lights with 2 or 3 signals. Made entirely in Italy with top-quality materials, this unit embodies the excellence of Made in Italy in access automation. Thanks to the 2.2" color LCD display and the programming logics, it ensures fast and intuitive configuration, offering high reliability for industrial and civil safety with extremely low energy consumption.

Main Applications

  • Traffic regulation and safety in multi-storey and underground car parks: optimized management of ramps and alternating one-way systems
  • Industrial safety and logistics: flow control of heavy vehicles in loading/unloading areas and industrial driveways
  • Residential access automation: management of apartment building gates with facilitated exits via sensors or timers
  • Optical signaling device for construction sites and passages: timed or priority regulation for narrow passages and private roads

Operating logics

  • RESERVATION: the green light cycle is activated by command devices such as sensors or buttons connected to Input 1 and 2. This is the optimal mode for managing variable traffic flows safely
  • TIMING: cyclical operation based exclusively on the preset times (TV1, TV2, and TSG). It does not require external sensors
  • STATE: the traffic light switches to green and remains green for the entire duration of the physical activation of the input, regardless of any timers
  • TESTING: A mode reserved exclusively for internal product testing by the manufacturer's personnel

Installer notes

  • Simplified wiring: the common pole of the traffic light 1 and 2 terminal blocks is connected internally; it is enough to connect the common on one terminal block only
  • Diagnostics: by pressing and holding the ESC button for 3 seconds, the firmware version and serial number can be viewed on the display
  • Safety: in the event of an alarm (Input 3 activation), the unit can be configured to trigger a "flashing red" state

Frequently asked questions

Does VIACONTROL run on 12 V, 24 V or 230 V?

The VIACONTROL control unit runs on 24 V or 230 V. The traffic lights can instead have any supply voltage (e.g. 24 V or 230 V), because it is handled separately through a dedicated terminal: the control unit acts as a switching element. If you have a 12 V power source, choose the VIACONTROL12 model.

What happens if cars arrive from both sides?

In Priority mode the control unit serves one side at a time: after the green and clearance phase it moves to the other side. With simultaneous calls it gives way to the side that activated input 1 or 2 first; if both inputs stay active, the green alternates between the two sides according to the set times.

How do I size the TSG clearance time?

TSG is the time the slowest vehicle needs to cover the whole alternating one-way section, plus a suitable safety margin. During this phase both traffic lights stay red, so that the section is completely clear before the direction of travel is reversed, i.e. before the green passes to the opposite traffic light.

What does Status mode do?

The traffic light turns green and stays green for as long as its input is active, with no timer; if both commands arrive together the control unit sets everything to red.

What happens in an emergency?

When input IN3 is activated, the control unit switches to the alarm state chosen with function F4, for example flashing reds.

What are the AUX outputs for?

Two configurable NO/NC contacts (48 V ac/dc, 0.5 A) to drive gates, barriers, alarms or signage without an extra relay board.

One side gets much more traffic: can I give it priority?

Yes, with the queue clearing function: if, during the green time (on either side), another vehicle arrives on the side that has the green, the green time in progress is reset and starts again from 0.
